On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending a preview of the new Uno de 50 store that’s now open at the newly renovated Westfield Century City mall! I’ll be honest; I wasn’t too familiar with the brand when I first heard about it. But seeing their beautifully crafted handmade pieces was enough to make me fall in love.
Born in Madrid, this Spanish fav is slowly taking over the West Coast – and I’m not complaining! At the opening, I had the chance to speak with the brand’s visual coordinator who helped me understand the concept behind Uno de 50. “Uno,” meaning one, “de 50,” of 50 – So one of 50. She explained to me that when the company first started, they would only produce 50 units of each piece. And each piece from a collection included a number, so you know which one you are getting out of the 50 they are selling. Of course, as the company grew, they had to start producing more. But to stay true to their concept, they will craft ‘special’ pieces in a collection that are only available in 50 units total.
Besides being beautiful, each piece is also unique – radiating culture with its ethnic touch. I think that’s also what made me love the brand so much. How different it is from what we’re so used to!
The pieces I’m wearing are from their grains inspired jewelry collection for Fall/Winter 2017. The collection features large and bold rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces with grain shapes combined with silver-plated metal, leather, and handcrafted crystals.
